Feng Shui Your Closet

For many people, a closet is usually a place of clutter and stagnant chi.  I encourage you to treat yourself to a closet makeover and be inspired to create a place where you consciously set intention for the day.  This is where we choose clothing, accessories and jewelry that are Feng Shui savvy based on colors, the Five Elements, the Taoist Seasons and Yin/Yang energies.

 Here are some quick tips to get you going:

 1.  De-clutter!

 2.  Deep clean with fragrant and uplifting aromatherapy cleaners (I love Mrs. Myer’s basil and lemon verbena)

 3.  Install closet systems that will help your space stay clutter-free (see Target and The Container Store).  Arrange by color to make it easier to dress for Feng Shui purposes.

 4.  Decide what world, aesthetic or style you’d like your closet to be.  Treat it as you would an entire room—your closet could be Zen, Indian, Moroccan, Eco-chic, anything!

 5.  Use paint, wallpaper or art to bring in color.

 6.  Have lots of lighting—floor lamps, desk lamps and a lovely shade for your ceiling light or treat yourself to a special fixture.

 7.  Use scent—I love the diffusers by Pacifica and the plug-ins for pure essential oils.

 8.  Ground the space with a rug.

 9.  Keep this space aired out, de-cluttered and clean.  Enjoy!

Make Your Own Feng Shui Money Tree for Chinese New Year!

 

There is an old Chinese legend about a money tree that has branches of coins and gold.  When you shake the money tree, the gold falls like rain from Heaven.

In Malaysia the Chinese put out Money Trees on the second day of the celebrations of the Chinese New Year.

Traditionally, one would use a kumquat (this is what business owners should use), a bushy pine, cypress tree or lucky bamboo plant that’s nestled inside a porcelain pot filled with five grains, including rice.  Red melon seeds and pine nuts are sprinkled over the top of the rice and grains.

If you don’t have a tree, you could also use gold branches and secured with the grains in a large vase.

Now you get to decorate!  Start with sparkling fairy lights or strings of electric red lanterns.  Then add:

 

• Feng Shui Coins hung by red thread or ribbon as if dripping off the tree
• Lucky Red Envelopes with images of gold ingots, Wealth God, and coins and filled with real money [hung by red thread through a hole-punch at top of envelope]
• Red lanterns
• Gold ingots
• Gold and silver coin garlands made of paper
• Symbols of long life (paper cranes and deer)
• Top with Liu Hai, a Taoist God of Wealth or the character for Happiness

Once you have your tree, you can do this very powerful visualization.   Imagine your own Money Tree in your garden and whenever you need cash, all you need to do is shake the tree and money notes will fall off, creating a windfall of prosperity.

Make Your Own Feng Shui Wishing Tree for the Chinese New Year

 

Make your very own “Wishing Tree”!  Although Taoist and Buddhist in its origins, this is a very popular ritual for everyone to do during the Chinese New Year as well as other festivals. Traditionally, they are placed outside (or, if it needs to be inside, near a window) so that the wind can carry your wishes to the Heaven Realm.

If you don’t have a tree to use, you could always take large branches and spray paint them gold and put these in a large vase stabilized with stones at the bottom.

Your tree could first be decorated with fairy lights or candle lanterns, if you wish.  Then, you have several variations to choose from:

1.  Write your wishes for the coming New Year on red and gold ribbons and then tie them to the branches of your Wishing Tree.  This is very similar to a Tibetan prayer flag, where your wish flutters in the wind.

2.  Write your wishes on red ribbon looped inside of a big golden medallion and then throw it up onto a tree branch trying to get it snag and stay.

3.  Write your name, birth date and wish on bright red and yellow joss papers (or red paper or bright paper inside a red envelope) attached to an orange.   Throw up onto the tree and try to snag it on a branch so your wish ascends to Heaven.  If the wish stays in the tree, it will be granted!  Here’s a sweet video of this…

4.  Throw coins at red cards inscribed with gold calligraphied blessings.  If you hit the card with a coin, you get the wish!  The coins are then traditionally given to charity.

5.  You could also make a Tibetan version, where you cover a tree with birds, jeweled pendants, crystal spheres, lotus flowers, silk scarves and fruits.

Preparing for the Chinese New Year, Year of the Metal Rabbit

 

We're about 19 days away from the Lunar or Chinese New Year which begins February 3rd this year and it's not too early to start getting ready!  Here's a check-list for making preparations--it's really great fun and such an intentional holiday to celebrate the return of spring and hope!

1.  Give your home and business and fabulous spring clean!   Clear away dirt, clutter and old stagnant chi to welcome in new energy for the New Year!  As you clean, imagine you’re sweeping away all illness, obstacles, bad luck, negative attitudes, and anything causing grief, stress, anxiety or frustration to members of your household or office.  Dispose of anything broken or with unhappy memories. Everything should be sparkling!

 2.  Pay down (or off!) any debts you have and pay all of your current bills so you go into the new year with an intention to be debt-free.

 3.  Treat yourself to a brand new red or black purse and wallet and fill with lots of cash (27 brand new uncirculated bills best of all plus 27 gold dollar coins).  Add to this money from a rich person, 3 Feng Shui coins tied with a red ribbon and a Lucky Dollar.

 4.  Fill your (clean!) fridge and pantry with lots of food and begin to prepare favorite dishes as there's no cooking on New Years Day.

5.  If you keep a rice urn, add to the bottom a new red envelope with currency and coins and then fill to the brim with rice. The rice urn is considered as the “stomach” of your family representing your savings and wealth abundance.  Make sure to fill your rice urn to the brim and never leave empty as that symbolizes your money and food draining away—make sure it’s half-full at all times.

For those who are already practicing this ritual, this year just add money divided into denominations of 9 inside the red packet that was kept at the bottom of your rice urn last year.

6.  Cut your hair or get a new hairstyle.

7.  Make amends with anyone with whom you’ve had a row or falling-out.

9.  Take care of your Feng Shui cures! Deep-clean your aquarium and water features and fill with sparkling purified water.  Put your crystal spheres overnight in salt water and wash under strong cold water in the morning.  Refresh any weary red ribbons or stings on your cures. Refresh the chi of your Feng Shui cures and retire the ones from last year.  It’s more powerful to have new ones with clean energy.

10.  Buy new red clothes and new red shoes for the celebrations (or even just a new red accessory!) as this portends auspicious luck and expanding business.  Try to wear something new and red every single day of the festival.

11.  Move your furniture placement even if just few inches, especially your bed (however, do NOT move if you are pregnant!) and desk.  Feel free to also re-arrange your furniture for fresh chi.  PLEASE NOTE: THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE FEBRUARY 4^TH, THE FIRST DAY SPRING.

12.  Toss any cracked or broken crockery or china.

13.  Prepare to host a special meal or celebration to occur during the two-week Lunar New Year (February 2nd as New Year's Eve through the Lantern Festival on February 16th) as joy and laughter are most excellent Feng Shui. Have a noisy, uplifting and happy party with an abundance of food, music and laughter! 

14.  Give your door way fresh paint (or, at the very least, a power-washing!).

15.  Decorate your home with…

• Vases of pretty spring blossoms and blooming plants to symbolize rebirth, new growth and re-awakening of nature.  Tie little red ribbons on chrysanthemums. 
• Kumquat plants decorated with red ribbons and red envelopes filled with real money.  Place one at each side of your front door, as well.
• Decorating with The ‘fu’ or “fook” symbol hung upside down (“fu dao”) to symbolize that luck has arrived (“upside down” and “arrive” sound similar in Mandarin); red lanterns and fake firecrackers
• Buy nine large and beautiful oranges (the word for orange sounds like “wealth” in Chinese) and put in the center of your kitchen table. Have trays of tangerines which sound like "good fortune".
• Gold ingots to symbolize prosperity and wealth

The Metal Element in You and Your Environments

 
 

It’s time for change again—the seasons are turning and with it, the chi (or life-force) of the Five Elements (wood, earth, water, fire and metal) in the universe and inside of YOU, too!

Autumn is governed by the element of METAL which is a cold and contracting energy that’s associated with creativity, communication, inspiration and symbology. 

Because the yang energies are now weakening and the chi is now yin in nature, it is time to gather your energy and your spirits and be reflective—it’s time to slooooow down!

The Metal Element governs the Lake, the Youngest Daughter and the Evening.

It governs the organs of the lungs and colon.

The emotions associated with metal are joy and grief. Other metal emotions are insecurity, inability to achieve parental or spousal expectations, and lack of confidence. The challenge for a metal type is to learn how to express grief and find healing.

The season of metal gives us the ability to let go of old ideas, beliefs, and attachments, leaving room for new space to grow and evolve as well as the possibility for wisdom.

It’s also a time to focus on finances and success.

In Feng Shui, we find the metal energy housed in the “Dui” or Children/Creativity (far center right) and Helpful People (closest far right) areas of the Bagua your home, business, desk or any room.  If you wish to enhance your creativity, communication and projects,  or attract more benefactors, you can apply metal cures such as:

• Installing a metal wind-chime outside on the eaves or inside and then ringing it with your hand nine times
• Placing a water fountain with floating bells
• Using the colors white, grey or metallic colors in paint or decor
• Add the metal element itself (such as genuine gold, silver, bronze, copper and so on; coins; bells; etc.)
• Hang a clear or gold colored round faceted Swarovski crystal sphere (hung on 9” increments red thread)
• Use the shapes of circles and domes
• Hang a gently moving mobile over your head at your desk
• Keep a brass bell on the creative gua of your desk and ring it vigorously and joyfully when you need an energetic boost
• Wear clothing in metal colors or metal jewelry
• Sprinkle Chinese Feng Shui coins liberally throughout your home and business (see my blog for the oh-so-many ways to do this!)

You can also do the following to support your chi during this season:

• Practice breathing meditations to strengthen the lungs
• Retire with the sunset and arise with the dawn
• Eat warm, cooked foods
• Let go of what’s no longer needed (on all levels)
• Observe where there’s unwanted contraction around patterns, habits, ideas
• Speak up for what is right, just and virtuous

Feng Shui Your Seventh Lunar Month: Ghosts, Zodiac, Elements and Mercury Clashes

 

Ghosts Visit, the Monkey and Tiger Fight, Mercury Goes Retro and the Elements Clash—this isn’t a Movie, it’s August 2010!

Alright my friends, fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a wild month!  The 7^th Lunar Month is typically the most dangerous and inauspicious month of the year so please be forewarned, be proactive and do your Feng Shui and then RELAX into it because negative energy is not absolute.

Since we can’t change the Heaven Fate (whereas we can affect change on Human and Earth Luck), here’s what we have to work with this lunar month:

 

In the Four Pillars astrology chart there will be a clash between wood and metal, which usually signifies violence and burglary.

 

Next, the Earthly branches themselves also clash involving the Monkey and Tiger, two natural enemies in the Zodiac.  This clash suggests serious problems surfacing in marriage or between lovers as well as traffic accidents.

Added to that, many Asians, Buddhists and Taoists honor the Hungry Ghost Month which begins this year on August 10^th’s New Moon and ends September 7^th.  The Hungry Ghost Festival takes place on Full Moon, August 24^th this year. You can visit my blog for ways to honor the dead. But be aware that the spirits are so desperate to be fed that if left unappeased, they can bring misfortune to those whose chi energy levels are depleted or whose luck is running low.

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s another Mercury Retrograde coming August 20^th lasting until September 12^th.  This affects travel, communications and computers.

 

So please, my friends, it’s imperative to be extra careful when driving your car, walking out and about at night (especially on lonely streets) or when travelling.  Watch out for mischief, accidents, theft and losing your possessions.

Feng Shui Your Handbag

 

All right, Ladies, if I did a surprise reconnaissance Feng Shui mission and checked out your purse, what would I find?!

A weary handbag with very tired chi?  Heavy with clutter?  Resting on the powder room floor?

Or would I find a purse you absolutely loved, totally organized, free of clutter, light and easy to carry?  And off the floor showing respect for your money?

In a time of anxiety about the economy, it's a perfect time for a Feng Shui make-over of your handbag so it's attractive to financial opportunities.

I suggest the classic "Money Bag" shape (where it's wider at the bottom and narrowere at the top) to keep your money safe and symbolically accruing.

The Feng Shui of Swimming Pools

 

As many of you know, I love to go swimming and move my human chi through the water element!  For those of you who are going to add a swimming pool to your own back-yard, please consider good form Feng Shui for the placement for your water feature:

• Have a meandering path from the house to the pool rather than a straight one
• Don't place the pool too close to your home
• The pool size should not be too small or too large for the house
• It's best of all if it embraces the home (curving towards the house)
• It should be placed horizontally or parallel to the house not angled with its points going towards the house
• The best shape is curvy such as a kidney or crescent
• You can balance the pool at the back with two tall spotlights on the front diagonals in the front yard of the home

Feng Shui Nightmare: EMFs

 

EMFs are electromagnetic energy fields which exist both outside and inside our homes and businesses.  From a Feng Shui perspective they are certainly "shar" or negative chi and can have harmful effects on our health such as compromised bio-chemisty, recurring fatigue, disturbed sleep, headaces, confusion, nausea, decreased immunity, certain cancers, tumor growths, blood disorders and auto-immune diseases.

Here are some simple actions you can take to help reduce the effect of the EMFs on your well being:

• Either remove (or keep at least 8-12 feet from your body; or unplug when not in use; or reduce) the usage of: clock radios, televisions, elecrtic blankets, water beds, ac/dc transformer boxes, coumputers, laser printers, copiers, appliances, microwaves, flourescent or halogen lighting, fuse boxes, cell phones, cordless phones, toasters, refriderators, electric heaters, electric shavers, blow dryers and dishwashers. The things in the bedroom are especially important.
• Cover open electrical plugs with child-proof covers
• Use EMF reduction devices (I love the things from Bio Pro)
• Place cork tiles under appliances adn use plants (peace lilies, ferns, evergreens, palms or philodendrons) near computers, televisions and so on
• Strengthen your biological system with healthy foods, exercise, pure filtered water for bathing and drinking and taking nutritional supplements that provide minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidents to combat the EMF effects
• Fix right away any frayed wires; broken outlets, sockets or switches; unfinished electrical work or fuses and light bulbs that often blow out
• Don't sleep in synthetic bedding or wear synthetic clothing
• Use 9 healthy potted plants (same ones as above) wtih a 50mm round faceted Swarovski crystal hung on 9" increments of red string close to the source in whatever room is of concern
• Take frequent breaks away from the computer.  Reduce your time on the cell phone and use a hands-free headset for talking. 
• Make sure the circuit box is not near your bed, desk or favorite chair
• Don't sleep near an air conditioner, fridge or electric water heater

Feng Shui Breathing Meditation to Ease Stress

 

This "Breathing Inhale/Exhale Meditation" from Grandmaster Lin Yun will help alleviate negative stress, worries, anger and help balance out well-being and bring about auspicious chi:

Take in a deep breath and visualize that every cell in our body is breathing in this auspicious air and also breathing in the light of the Buddha or other deities.  We may also visualize that we are breathing in healthy chi, wealthy chi and happy chi.

When we exhale, we should do it in 9 small breaths with the last breath being the longest.  The 9th breath should expel all the air we breathed in.  We should visualize that we have exhaled all of our sickness, stress, worries and problems.

One inhale and one exhale is one complete set.  We should do 9 sets per exercise.  If needed, we should do 9 sets in the morning, 9 at midday and 9 at night.

 

Feng Shui Your Hotel Room

As many of us will be in a hotel sometime this summer, I thought it would be fun to share some tips for your stay. 

• If possible, choose an aupsicious day from the Chinese Almanac to travel
• Request a room with a beautiful and uplifting view
• Carry a talisman with you for protection and safety
• Tie a 9" piece of red cloth on your suitcase handles
• Clear the energy of your room by opening the windows; ringing a bell or chime; and spraying pure essential oil of orange, neroli or bergamot
• Make your room a yin sanctuary (quiet and dark) as much as possible for deep sleep by packing ear plugs and an eye mask as well as requesting a room far from elevators and ice machines
• If possible, sleep in the Commanding Position by adjusting your room  so that while laying in your bed you can see the entrance but you're not in line with the door nor does your bed cross the door.  Don't have a heavy beam crossing or splitting your bed, either.
• Cover the tv screen; mirrors;  and sharp corners on bed-side tables pointing towards your head (pack some fabric).  Make sure any blinds with blades are all the way closed or open but not half-open to avoid cutting chi.
• Keep the bathroom door shut; sink and tub drains closed; and toilet lid down when not in use
• Keep your chi lifted and supported by drinking lots of fresh water, exercising, receiving healing treatments, taking supplements and having long naps

A Feng Shui Garden: Tips to Increase the Light

In Feng Shui, we love the enhancement of light to increase the chi and life-force in both your body and environment.

Here are 9 simple tips to help you increase the light in your garden this summer.

1.  Use electric lighting to illuminate, spotlight or silhouette trees, plants or deity statues at night time

2.  Catch the light--as well as double the abundance!-- by placing mirrors behind plants, statues or water features (you can symbolically double your wealth, for example, by placing your water feature in the "hsun" or "fortunate blessings" area of your garden and placing a mirror behind it)

3.  Hang clear or colored 40mm faceted Swarovski crystal spheres in the branches which will shimmer and shine so beautifully (you can order some from me, if you wis, for $27 each)

4.  Use electric light or candles in lanterns

5.  Use mirrors beneath water

6.  Place colored glass reflecting balls among your plants

Feng Shui Tips for Business Owners: Don't Make These Mistakes!

Are you making these Feng Shui mistakes with YOUR business?

You don't run your business from the "Commanding Position" (meaning you sit with your back to a solid wall facing the door--but not in front of the door--at the farthest diagonal from the door)

You have failed to use Feng Shui in the branding of your business so you don't have unity in your physical environment, marketing materials, how you dress and your overall business perception

The Yin and Yang energies are out of balance not only in your environmnet but also in YOU--you are always pushing and never resting OR you keep contemplating your business but never take action

Use Feng Shui to Attract Visibility

In Feng Shui, when you want more visibility for your projects and goals, we often look to the "Li" gua, the place of Fame and Recognition in your home and office. But we can also enhance and amplify our own chi to be a beacon for attention.

Some easy ways--that are also great fun!--to help you get noticed are:

• Wear the color red, such as a suit, tie or carry a red purse (my own fake red crocodile purse always gets attention and comments which invites conversation which has actually led to me to Feng Shui consulting jobs!)
• Wear jewelry that catches the light such as gold, diamonds or Swarovski crystals
• Use scent to enhance your chi. Personally, I wear only 100% pure essential oils and I love them (as do people who hug me!)
• Use sound to attract chi such as bangles or tiny bell earrings.

Ultimately, I still believe the best way to cultivate charisma and magnetism is to be kind, generous and to be extraordinarily present.

Feng Shui in a Time of Recession

Listening to NPR today, a lot of talk about a recession in our country. There seems to be a cloud of fear and worry and Feng Shui can be such a friend to you in a time like this.

Feng Shui for New Beginnings

Spring.  Growth.  Expansion.  Vitality.  New Beginnings

In Feng Shui, we use the color green and the element of wood to enhance the Spring area of the Bagua called "Zhen" or "Jen".  In your home or business you can enhance this area (the middle left side of your room or building as you stand in the doorway facing inward) with healthy green plants (bamboo would be great!); green (or clear) Swarovski crystal spheres, paint or decor.  You may wish to put a green folder on this area of your desk with a list of all the projects you wish to 'grow' this spring.

9 Tips for Spring Feng Shui

1. Out with the clutter!  Before you begin, turn on all the lights, open all the windows, spray some orange essential oils and put on some uplifting music.  Clear all stagnant chi (inside and out) of your home, office, car, purse, wallet, briefcase, voice-mail, email, computer files, check-book--everything.

2. Then deep clean with aromatherapy products such as Mrs. Meyers and Method.

3. Increase the light by washing all of your windows and mirrors.  Dust your light bulbs and replce with the highest wattage possible.  Treat yourself to new lampshapes if necessary.  You can also hang Swarovski leaded crystal spheres in your wondows. (contact me if you need some)

4. Bring in a gentle breeze of precious new chi by opening all of the doors and wondows each day for at least 10 minutes.  Burn sandalwood incense or chen pi. (let me know if you want some)

5. Add lots of plants, indoors and out.

6. Add the color green into your life with clothing, paint and decor.

7. Invite fresh life-force with wind-chimes and bird-feeders hung from the rafters around your home.

8. Change out the water in your fountains and wash your crystal spheres overnight in a salt water bath (rinse in the morning under cold running water).

9. Make a list of everything that drains your life force: unfinished projects or errands, high-maintenance people, old emotions, unhelpful habits, negative thoughts, clutter in your environment (inside or out), toxins, electro-magnetic frequencies, debts, lack of sleep, poor time management, too-full calendars, excessive noice, distactions and so on...
Now, choose your top 3 energy drains you'd get the most relief from ending.  Schedule time on  your calendar and take care of them.  Move on the the next 3 and keep going until you are FREE!

No More Stagnant Feng Shui Cures

My dear friends in Feng Shui, please ask yourself, "Are my cures stagnant?"  When is the last time you changed the water in your fountain or cleaned your Swarovski crystal spheres?  I suggest that no less than once a month you:

1. Clean your fountain and put in sparkling fresh water filtered water (with just a drop or two of bleach).  Remember for your fountain to be a viable Feng Shui cure that the water should full with a strong flow and seen pooling (not disappearing invisibly) as it represents a gathering of prosperity and it should flow towards the inside of your home or business (not towards your neighbors--although, that's certainly a good deed!)

2. Your Swarovski crystal spheres should be cleansed overnight in salt water and rinse under cold running water once a month, as well.  You'll love the renewed and rejuvenated sparkle!  Hanging your crystals by 9" increments of red thread adds a mystical enhancement when using these spheres as cures.

Feng Shui for Deep and Restful Sleep

In Feng Shui, the bedroom is used only for a refuge of deep rest and intimacy.  It is the most important room in your home as it is where you replenish your chi each night.  Here we need yin (quiet and restful) energy which supports a calm nervous system without any distractions or disturbances of excessive yang (powerful, moving) chi.  In a three-part series, here are some tips to get you started in creating a sanctuary of sleep.

1. Keep your bedroom well-ventilated with plenty of fresh air for regenerating your energy.

2. The placement of your bed should be on the farthest diagonal to your bedroom entrance without the bed crossing the path of the door.  Being able to see the door while lying in bed will help you feel safe and protected.  The bed should be up against a solid wall (or use heavy drapes to cover windows if that's the only place your bed can go).  Also, don't place your bed beneath any beams or slanted ceiling (which can cause headaches, depression or a sense of oppression) or on a shared wall with any toilets or stove.

3.Your bed should be up off the floor with nothing beneath so that the chi can circulate around your body while you sleep.  The headboard should be solid wood (not metal, which conducts electricity) free of openings or slats--acting like a 'mountain' of support for you and your life.  Your bed should not have any previous owners and should be replaced after a divorce or break-up.  And no unstable water-beds, please!

Feng Shui for Love and Romance

Some Feng Shui tips for your Valentines Day...

1.  In Feng Shui, bedrooms should only be used for sleeping and making love.  So for your feast of love, please clear any clutter and deep clean your bedroom to remove tired and stagnant chi.  Open window, burn incense, ring bells.

2.  Remove from your bedroom any stuffed animals; photographs of children, family or pets; distractions of television, telephones, computers or work; sad mementoes of past lovers; a mattress used in a past relationship; any art that reflects loneliness; work-out equipment.

3. Add to your bedroom photographs of you and your love in happy times, wedding and honeymoon photos; romantic art; fresh flowers; anything that creates a sensual and beautiful haven.

If you are looking for a lover, consider...

1.  Placing yourself in the 'field' of lovers--go and absorb the chi of happy couples!

2.  Make physical room for someone to come into your life by giving "him" or "her" space in your bed (no single or bunk beds, please!), closet and medicine chest.

3.  Make sure that the art in your bedroom (and home) reflect happy couples--no brooding or depressed singles.

Feng Shui for Success and Good Luck: Part 2

1.  Enhance your Benefactors or Helpful People Gua (the lower far right hand corner as you stand in the doorway of your home or office looking in) by hanging a brass wind-chime here and ring nine times daily asking for the help you need for your success.  See, feel and believe as if it's already happening.

2.  Use the aupicious, yang (activating) and powerful color red in your clothing, car, home and office.  Not too much, though, so you don't 'burn out' from excessive fire energy.

3.  Make sure that your desk is placed in Command Position in your office.  You will have a solid wall at your back (no more facing a wall, ugh!) sitting in the farthest corner from the door (diagonally, if possible) facing the door.  This allows you to have the wide view of your business with a supported "Mountain" at your back.  if it is absolutely impossible to sit this way, then you can place a mirror on yoru computer monitor or wall so you can easily see the reflection of the door behind you.

Feng Shui for Prosperity Part 2

 

1.  Express gratitude with nightly litanies such as with coins; thank you gifts and cards; offerings to your deity (food, tea, candles, incense, flowers); silently bless everyone who gives you money; write thank you on all checks and bills

2.  Give generously of money, time, energy, compassion and appreciation; perform Love-in-Action every day; practice tithing; give red envelopes to teachers, mentors and charities; bless silently everyone to whom you give money

3.  Pay attention to your karma

4.  Absorb the chi of wealthy people

5.  Activate the Fortunate Blessings (hsun) area of your home, desk, office, business, yard and bedroom by using:
   *Elements:  Wood; Water;
   *Colors: purple, red and green; gold

Feng Shui for Success and Good Luck: Part 1

Some simple ways to begin to increase your Success and Good Luck--part 1 of a 3 part series...

1.  Put yourself in the energy field of others whom you consider lucky, prosperous and successful--this helps you to absorb their chi and lift your own.

2.  Enter through the "Mouth of Chi" or front door of your home or business--not the side or back doors (look at the metaphor of coming into your life or work through the back door!)

3.  Write your goals or wishes on a piece of red paper and place inside a red envelope (I've got fabulous ones for sale if you need some, only $3 for a packet).  Put this red envelope in the Helpful People or Benefactors area of your altar, desk or bedroom and read every morning and night.  Please visulaize and really feel as if your dream is already true.  Also, put pictures and symbols of your goals and wishes in your home and office.  Best to shine bright light on them, if you can.  Don't forget the mundane part of Feng Shui and take ACTION!

Clear Stagnant Chi

9 Feng Shui Tips to Clear Stagnant Chi & Increase Your Life Force

1. Clear out all of your clutter and energy drains. If you need help with this, see my 3 Month Home Study Course—it works!

2. Chi rides on the wind, so bring in a gently breeze of precious new life-force by opening all the doors and windows at least 10 minutes each day.

3. Deep clean.  As you do so, imagine you are sweeping away all illness, obstacles, bad luck, negative attitudes, and everything causing grief, stress, anxiety or frustration to members of your household or office.

4. Use scent to lift your house-keeping.  It is much more pleasurable to use cleaning products with aromatherapy (personally, I love the brands “Method” which you can get at Target, as well as “Mrs. Meyer’s”).

5. Increase the light in your environment. Dust all of your light bulbs and replace with higher wattage and new lamp-shades, if necessary. Wash your mirrors.  Clean your windows and then hang a beautiful faceted crystal to disperse the light.

6. Brighten your front entrance (your “Mouth of Chi”) with a new and bright door mat and hang wind-chimes to activate the chi.

7. Burn Chen Pi--Chinese dried tangerine peel—daily.  This is incredibly powerful in clearing out negative and stagnant chi, especially as clearing clutter or cleaning house.

8.  Do the Inhale/Exhale Breathing Meditation to help ease mental, emotional or physical blocks in your own body.  Please write and I will happily send it to you.

Feng Shui for Prosperity Part 1

 

Releasing Blocked Chi and Financial Stagnation

1.  Clear all clutter, especially the Fortunate Blessings area of home and garden.

2.  Deep clean.

3.  Have a Feng Shui Blessing Ceremony.

4.  Fix all leaks and plumbing problems (faucets, toilets, pools, hot tub, sprinkler, sewer pipes).  Keep the drains covered both outdoors and indoors (kitchen, bathroom and laundry room).  Keep the toilet lids down, bathroom doors closed and mirror on outside of bathroom door, if necessary.

5.  Take care and respect your money: balanced check-book; statements filed; pay bills on time; clean wallet and purse.

6.  Remove all images or metaphors of poverty.

7.  Keep the Mouth of Chi well illuminated, clear and uplifted.  Place your bed in the Command Position.  Keep your stove shiny clean and in good repair and also, rotate use of burners.

8.  If there are too many windows or a door in the wealth area, use curtains, plants and crystals to stop chi flow.

9.  Remove physical blocks with movement, deep breathing, water and Inhale/Exhale Meditation

10.  Remove emotional blocks with letting go of impatience, worry, criticizing, judging, gossiping, moaning or complaining; cancel all emotional debts of time and money spent.

*polish the metal hardware
*the view upon entering is beautiful with fresh flowers, a pure aromatherapy candle or an altar; a hanging chandelier would be ideal
*consider a water feature inside the front door with the water flowing into the home

Feng Shui for Good Fortune

Wherever I go, I’m always checking out the Chi (pronounce “chee”) which comes into our lives, homes and businesses through the “Mouth of Chi” (or front entrance) of both the land and the building.  I cannot say how essential it is to have a fabulous entrance because this is where all good luck, health, happiness, prosperity—everything!—enters your life.  You can enhance yours by:

·Keeping the path approaching your door absolutely free of obstacles and clutter (no recycling bins, dead plants, overgrown hedges or trees that need pruning). The path should gently meander, rather than run in a straight line to your front door.

·Keep the door-way well illuminated both inside and out (no burnt out light bulbs)

·Inside and outside the Mouth of Chi should be uplifting and beautiful.  Plant healthy plants in red pots or red flowers at either side of your front door. Place a cheerful, new and bright door mat.

·Make certain that your address is clearly visible (so fortune can find you!) and that your doorbell is in working order (so you can hear opportunity calling!)

·Be sure that your solid wood front door is in good working order—no squeaking hinges or scraping the floor--and that the door knob opens easily (for blessings to easily!)

·Give your front door a fresh coat of glossy paint--consider a bright red for auspicious luck and protection; green for health and long-life; or black to stimulate your career and cash flow.

·You can also place an exterior water fountain flowing towards your front door which helps create cash flow (the greater the flow, the better).  Make sure the water is visibly pooling rather than disappearing.

·Make sure your eyes fall on something beautiful when you enter your home or office, such as fresh flowers or an altar.  A bright and sparkling crystal chandelier would also be ideal here.

·For those of you with attached garages, side or back doors, get into the habit of using your front door and activate that Mouth of Chi!

·Hang brass temple-bell wind chimes outside your front door to ring in new blessings.
