Feng Shui Your Window Display: Part 2

 

Successful window displays from a Feng Shui perspective include arresting light, color, movement and if possible, the presence of the 5 Elements (earth, water, fire, metal and wood). 

Also, please make sure that the window is in alignment with your overall branding.

The God of Wealth's Birthday Offerings

 

Last night Gregory and I did another version of the "Welcoming the Wealth God" ceremony.  THis one involves an altar set up outside the front door with offerings in sets of 5 (wine, tea, sweets, fruits, joss ingots and money, incense)--this was taken before I brought our Wealth God to sit on the altar.  There are a series of prostrations, toasts, throwing the Taoist indicators to see if he's "arrived" and bringing him into the house with more prostrations and throwing the indicators again to see if he's "seated" on the altar.  All of the joss paper is burned as part of the ceremony.

  

Afterwards, we did the the "Rolling in the Wealth" ceremony and our floor covered with oranges, kumquats, gold coins, Feng Shui coins and gold ingots.  It's soooo fun and beautful and offers an incredibly prosperous mindset!

Feng Shui Savvy Office Desks and Chairs

In Feng Shui, your desk is the financial foundation of your business, so it’s a very important purchase for the financial success of your business.  Don’t cut corners!

• Purchase a brand new one so you don’t inherit negative predecessor chi
• Buy the best you can afford
• Make sure it’s sturdy (solid wood or metal is best), not wobbly and not made of glass (which can lead to distracted chi and an unstable financial foundation for your business)
• For wood desks, a lighter shade is better
• The size of desk needs to be big enough to expand your horizons and support your big ideas
• It’s best to have a full modesty panels in the front and on the sides of the desk to help contain your energy—the longer the better
• Don’t downsize your desk, always upgrade if possible (unless, of course, it’s too big for the space you’re moving to)
• If your desk is too small, it will limit your ideas and contribute to a loss of focus, ideas and details
• If you have small desk and you face the wall, it can lead to being closed minded, a lack of creativity or your base of knowledge not large enough
• A round shape is perfect for creative projects and meetings
• A square or rectangular shape is best for accomplishing tasks, working on details and doing financial work
• You must have a main desk to return to each day if you work from a mobile office (such as a laptop at Starbucks)
• Have spaciousness beneath your desk for foot space
• Personally, I don’t like L-shaped desks as I feel they have a cutting chi coming in from the sides

This desk is a fabulous Feng Shui desk for making money and accomplishing tasks--wood, solid, full panels and beautiful!

 

A beautiful wood but NOT good to sit with back exposed (more on this in the Commanding Position post coming soon!) and facing shelves (cutting chi into your head as well as a feeling of it all coming crashing down on you).

Feng Shui and Fireworks!

 

Traditionally in China real firecrackers are used for the Chinese New Year, weddings, grand openings and for rituals in temples. They are also used for expelling or ‘blasting’ away harmful or negative energy (called “shar” or “sha” chi) and harmful spirits.

 

In Feng Shui, we use symbolic firecrackers as talismans to protect a home or business from burglary or accidents as well as to invite an ‘explosion’ or a ‘sparking’ in an area of your life or business that wants enhancing.

 

For example, in BTB Feng Shui there is a Secret Transcendental ritual called the “Five Buddha Firecrackers” which are a special grouping of 5 or 9 symbolic gold and red foil firecrackers that are very powerful for promoting your career, fame and wealth by placing them in a certain place in the respective trigrams of the Bagua of your environment with an accompanied visualization.

 

You can also use 1, 3 or 9 sets of stringed fake firecrackers at your front door or in the Fame and Recognition areas of your home and business and visualize your career “taking off” or your fame “sky-rocketing”. 

 

If there is some negative energy at your home or business, get some real fireworks during this season and light them outside at your front entrance with the intent of blasting away any inauspicious chi.

Feng Shui Your Marketing and PR with the Fire Element

 

From a Feng Shui perspective with the yang energy peaking and the fire element blazing in summer, it’s a superb time to take action and focus on your marketing, promotions, branding and reputation for your business.

The aspiration of “Fame and Recognition” burns in the Li gua (back center area of your business, office, home or desk) and is govenered by the element of fire and the color red and relates to how visible you are and how willing you are to be seen.

In your physical environment, you can activate the Li gua with:

·     Red décor or paint

·     Red 40mm Swarovski crystal spheres (hung on 9" increments of red thread) in windows

·     Red lanterns, red electric lights or lamp shades

·     Bright lights

·     Your logo placed here with strong lighting highlighting it

 

Another way to be noticed, is to wear:

FENG SHUI YOUR “WEALTH GENERATOR” COMPUTER

My clients are always hearing me say “You can Feng Shui everything!” Well, today it’s your precious computer’s turn! It’s very important to give your computer some regular energetic tune-ups, not only because its performance affects our energy and mood (ever have a crash?!) but because it’s also a wealth generator for most businesses and entrepreneurs. When your computer runs quickly, easily and joyfully, so do you and your work!

Here are some quick tips to get—and keep!—the chi moving in a positive way:

1. In Feng Shui, “Helpful People” and “Benefactors” are treasured! Have a computer expert in maintenance and repair and treat them with utmost kindness and respect.

2. Clear stagnant chi by deleting unwanted and unused files, programs and emails and make room (physically and metaphorically) for wonderful new opportunities, customers and clients. Tidy the cords beneath your desk. Keep your screen clean because just like windows in a building, it helps you have the clarity to ‘see’ more clearly where you’re going in your work.

3. Just like the Feng Shui protection cures for our homes and businesses, don’t forget to put some in place for your computer: anti-virus programs, firewalls and so on. Remember to back-up your work and keep it in a safe place—your files are your wealth generators, just like a water feature or an aquarium would be in your wealth corner. Visualize foo dogs or dragons guarding your computer.

4. Use uplifting and meaningful Feng Shui imagery for your screen-savers to enhance your dreams and goals such as waterfalls, deities, oceans, honeymoon with your spouse, dream home and so on. And don’t forget to use passwords that attract successful and prosperous energy!

5. Hang a 40mm or 50mm clear faceted Swarovski crystal sphere on 9” increments of heavy red embroidery thread from the ceiling (use a cup hook) over your computer or networking stations and visualize problem-free and easily moving chi around your work station.

6. Tap into “Heaven Luck” and note when the planet Mercury goes into retrograde each year as it’s usually a very difficult time for clear and direct communications. Then you can take extra care to do extra emails and calls so things go smoothly for you.

4.  Use uplifting and meaningful imagery for your screen-savers so you can have some visual Feng Shui pictures for your dreams and goals--waterfalls, deities, oceans, honeymoon with your spouse, dream home and so on.  And don’t forget energy-attractive passwords.

Excellent Feng Shui to Increase Sales for Your Shop, Restaurant or Service Business

 

 As I’m out and about shopping, eating out or receiving services, I see some recurring themes that are actually repelling energy, customers and sales.

The first is a negative and stagnant PYHSICAL ENVIRONMENT.  You’d be surprised how often places are dimly lit, so over-packed with product you can’t actually see anything, the air is stale, the shelves are dusty, the bathroom is dark and dirty, the flowers are dying or dead, the owner’s desk is an absolute nightmare and there’s so much clutter around the cash register there’s no place for me to even pay you.  Ugh!  Even if you’re in a trendy or upscale neighborhood with hip modern décor, bad Feng Shui is bad Feng Shui.

The second is lethargic, disinterested or plain mean HUMAN CHI.  When your head is buried deep into your computer and being on Facebook is more important to you than a live customer’s presence, you’re really inviting sales.  And please don’t even hire employees who are snooty, negative or lethargic—human chi is incredibly important to your sales.

And the third is inconsistent BRANDING.  So often there is a confusing lack of unity with your product or service and your physical environment, marketing materials, how you dress, the music you play, the events you host and so on. Instead it’s a big mish-mash of conflicting colors, imagery and aesthetics.

Here’s a check-list to quickly and simply uplift the energy of your business and get those sales going!

1.  Cash register drawers clear of clutter and clean?  Enhanced with healthy green plants and 3 Feng Shui Coins on Red Ribbon?

2.  Owner’s desk clear of clutter?  Wealth corner of desk enhanced?

3.  Entire business clutter-free and deeply cleaned?  Including bathroom?

4.  Fresh décor?  Stylish and updated?  New art?  Merchandise regularly rotated?  Beautiful flowers and plants?  New shopping bags?  New business cards?  New website?  Refreshed menu?  Music on the cd player or ipod new and joyfully upbeat, not too loud?

5.  Is there actually space to see what you’re selling?  Same on a menu, is there some space so it’s not overwhelming (think black calligraphy on a white canvas)?

6.  Showing appreciation for your clients and customers with specials, hand written thank you cards, events and parties, stellar concierge service?  Hosting lots of live events during and after-hours so there is continually live chi filling your business?

7.  Cash register visible from the front door?  Not too far away, sitting in the Commanding Position?

8.  Attracting walk-bys with a stunning front entrance full of beauty and movement (water feature, wind-chimes, flags or banners)?  Incredible displays in your windows?

9.  Every single employee expressing joy, appreciation, positive and welcoming energy to each person who comes through the door?  Walks them to the car with purchases?  Offers them refreshments? Holds the door open? Makes people feel like an honored guest?  Sincerely says ‘thank you’ when folks leave?

Feng Shui Your Hotel Room

As many of us will be in a hotel sometime this summer, I thought it would be fun to share some tips for your stay. 

• If possible, choose an aupsicious day from the Chinese Almanac to travel
• Request a room with a beautiful and uplifting view
• Carry a talisman with you for protection and safety
• Tie a 9" piece of red cloth on your suitcase handles
• Clear the energy of your room by opening the windows; ringing a bell or chime; and spraying pure essential oil of orange, neroli or bergamot
• Make your room a yin sanctuary (quiet and dark) as much as possible for deep sleep by packing ear plugs and an eye mask as well as requesting a room far from elevators and ice machines
• If possible, sleep in the Commanding Position by adjusting your room  so that while laying in your bed you can see the entrance but you're not in line with the door nor does your bed cross the door.  Don't have a heavy beam crossing or splitting your bed, either.
• Cover the tv screen; mirrors;  and sharp corners on bed-side tables pointing towards your head (pack some fabric).  Make sure any blinds with blades are all the way closed or open but not half-open to avoid cutting chi.
• Keep the bathroom door shut; sink and tub drains closed; and toilet lid down when not in use
• Keep your chi lifted and supported by drinking lots of fresh water, exercising, receiving healing treatments, taking supplements and having long naps

Feng Shui Tips for Business Owners: Don't Make These Mistakes!

Are you making these Feng Shui mistakes with YOUR business?

You don't run your business from the "Commanding Position" (meaning you sit with your back to a solid wall facing the door--but not in front of the door--at the farthest diagonal from the door)

You have failed to use Feng Shui in the branding of your business so you don't have unity in your physical environment, marketing materials, how you dress and your overall business perception

The Yin and Yang energies are out of balance not only in your environmnet but also in YOU--you are always pushing and never resting OR you keep contemplating your business but never take action

You drain your own energy and prosperity by being surrounded by stagnant chi and clutter and your don't practice energy or time management

You don't activate your "Fame and Recognition" are (or "li" gua of your space) so you are invisible to your clients and customers

You have an invisible or poorly activated "Mouth of Chi" (or fraont entrance leading up to and inside your front door)

You don't marry the "Heaven" actions with the "Earth" vision each day

 You have a weak foundation for your business with a glass desk-top or any kind inherited from a down-sized or bankrupt business

You sign a lease on a building before checking in with a Feng Shui consultant to see whether or not you should sign or keep looking

You don't take the "Predacessor Chi" seriously and fail to have a blessing ceremony on spaces that have had bankruptcy, sat empty for months or years or have had very negative energy from the previous owners

• Wear the color red, such as a suit, tie or carry a red purse (my own fake red crocodile purse always gets attention and comments which invites conversation which has actually led to me to Feng Shui consulting jobs!)
• Wear jewelry that catches the light such as gold, diamonds or Swarovski crystals
• Use scent to enhance your chi. Personally, I wear only 100% pure essential oils and I love them (as do people who hug me!)
• Use sound to attract chi such as bangles or tiny bell earrings.

Ultimately, I still believe the best way to cultivate charisma and magnetism is to be kind, generous and to be extraordinarily present.
